History and Location:
In 2008, Lord Robert Smith and his family acquired this magnificent estate, bestowing upon it their family name, inspired by the idyllic surroundings and panoramic views of the rolling mountains. By 2017, the estate opened its doors to host exclusive events, gaining acclaim for its beauty and impeccable service. By 2020, Smithmore Castle had transformed into a fully operational castle hotel, complete with a private restaurant serving haute cuisine. The estate is accessed via a private drive up English Knob and is perfectly set across nearly 150 acres of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its secluded yet picturesque location is ideal for luxury weddings and grand photoshoots. The Castle has since gained national recognition, being featured in prestigious magazines, books, on television, and in music videos.

With over 15,000 square feet of space, the Castle is home to just eight luxurious bedrooms, ensuring exclusivity and privacy. The estate’s grounds boast natural caves—offering guided tours—a fire pit for serene gatherings under the stars, and trails for hiking, a farm and vineyard. Guests may partake in a host of bespoke activities, including archery instruction, etiquette classes, tea time, coffee tastings and private wine tastings. The estate offers uninterrupted views of Mount Mitchell, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Eastern Continental Divide.
For those with a taste for adventure, the estate's hiking trails are punctuated with Old English riddles, leading guests to hidden caves on the property. Smithmore Castle offers custom-curated stays for each guest, with a dedicated Concierge team and renowned in-house Chef. Accommodations are available for up to 23 guests & 1 infant, while the estate can host up to 100 for events.
